Cancer Network is an ASCO web sight dedicated to the patients view. I get regular emails from them and they include various cancer ProCon discussions. Todays ProCon is a duel featuring Dr. William Catalona (Pro) vs Dr. Ballentine Carter (Con) on baseline screening men in their 40's. Catalona's Pro statement.Carter's Con statement. As always remember ~ I am only the messenger. Tony

Tony,
With all the screening controversy, I'm beginning to not care. J

I hear ya. And I do not disagree. It's clear that this controversy will never change. And it's clear that the sides are entrenched.
My position is that is any many wants to screen or baseline he should be screened. This is not the physicians decision. It's important to understand the risks. Both Catalona and Carter make compelling points.

I find myself being more of an advocate for early colon cancer screening. This seems to make a ton more sense. With colonoscopiess and new tests (including a new camera you can swallow)...this could be a preventable cancer.
btw --- have you had yours and do you get screened periodically? You are that magical age...

I'm due. I need to schedule it.
Stay tuned on the CCa. But I'me feeling well. As far as screening young and early, I am 100% for it as long as a patient is informed.
I got a new camera from ruth for Christmas. It's a nice Canon EOS 70D. But I will not swallow it...:-)
