A lot of study in the ERG protein has been done but a lot more is needed. This is an interesting paper that asks a good Phase III trial question. We already good ways of detecting it with TMPRSS2/ERG tests available with biopsy samples and urine. But the hypothesis here asks "Can the ERG protein tell us who is at higher risk to progressing to prostate cancer?". A second question as well "Can the detection of the ERG protein in HGPIN positive biopsies lead to mortality improvement in prostate cancer?" Have a read... ERG and the HGPIN GUY
