RULES:
1 | Do not post anything that could be considered intolerant of a person’s race, culture, appearance, gender, sexual preference, religion or age. |
2 | Do not be obscene and don’t use foul, vulgar or explicit language. Do not post foul, vulgar or explicit images. |
3 | Do not insult or harass other participants. Respect the personal opinions of other members, and respect individual treatment decisions made by others as decisions about health and well-being are highly personal choices. |
4 | This forum may not be used to promote any product, service or business. No advertising. |
5 | Politics and religion are not discussed in polite company, and these topics are not allowed at this forum. Also, discussion of suicide and illegal activities is not allowed. |
6 | Respect copyrighted material and lengthy articles. Please simply add a basic description and link sites in your post to the original article. |
7 | Protect your identity if you desire. Be careful about posting personal contact information as this forum is public facing. |
8 | If you are a medical professional feel free to participate as you can but also know this is a public facing forum. We appreciate your participation! |
GUIDELINES:
1 | Check for open topics. Do a search before posting. Use the forum search option to make sure your question has not already been asked and answered by other users. Also, stay on the topic of thread. If you think of another topic while reading a thread, create a new thread for that topic. |
2 | Use descriptive titles for new posts. Avoid "generic" post subjects like "Help" or "Question". You will receive a better response to your posts by making your title more descriptive about the content of your post. |
3 | Respect the time of other members. Instead of simply posting a link to an interesting article, add a little value by writing a brief summary of why you think it’s important for someone else to spend time reading. |
4 | Have thick skin. - Accept “give-and-take.” Before over-reacting, look carefully at whether a comment aimed at you was disrespectful, or whether you are misinterpreting. Influencing factors may include your mood, the writer’s mood, clumsy writing, or cultural/language differences. - Focus on the logic of the argument rather than the individuals involved in the argument. - If you feel that someone has insulted you, report their comment to a moderator; don’t perpetuate the dispute. |
5 | Experienced members are encouraged to offer a friendly “welcome” to newcomers. Help newcomers "learn the ropes" on how to find information and resources, save time, and how to get involved. |
6 | If you are new, post an "Introducing myself" thread. |
7 | Lend a helping hand by offering compassion toward helping people with life's challenges. Also, don't be afraid to share. If you're feeling alone or hurting, don't be afraid to share your fears and tears. If you're rejoicing about the results of a recent medical test or treatment, share that too. |
8 | Be respectful of moderators in both the forums and any private communications. |
9 | Use good judgment. NEVER rely on information or opinions exchanged to replace necessary, personal consultation(s) with qualified health or medical professionals to meet your individual health or medical needs. Remember that what's right or has worked for one person may not be what's right for you. |
PCAF staff and moderators retain the right to delete content, delete threads, or ban members at any time.
