PHowdy, my signature tells most of the story of my journey so far. To be honest it's been a bit rough, living here and not speaking the language. I've got virtually all my info from the net and have been a member with Healing Well (Shaba.Doug) since March. Lots of good people and opinions there, that's where I came across this site. Thanks Tony!
Here's where I'm at right now. I had my first post-op PSA on the 17th of this month, 12 weeks post surgery (RALP). It came back 1.15 a bit higher than I was expecting considering my relatively clean path report.
This is a quote from the email the nurse sent me, "Your PSA is 1.15 and is unfortunately way too high. (no kidding!) Dr. Kxxxx writes referral to Oncologist, probably radiation." I'm trying to arrange a telephone Q&A with Dr. K but no luck so far.
I really don't see SRT as a prudent option here given the current PSA, GS9 and Path report. I "feel" that there is Mets outside the prostrate bed, not being pessimistic just pragmatic. MY "logic" tells me that if the cancer was localised they missed 1/3 of it during surgery as my pre-op PSA was 3.83. HT would appear the logical route to me as a next step.
I've requested from the beginning of this to see an Oncologist and have a bone scan or at least an investigation into possible mets, no joy. I've had a couple of Pelvic MRI's pre-surgery, apparently nothing surprising. The health care system here is tax driven not profit so tests and procedures are kept to a minimum.
So, that's where I stand at the moment. I would truly appreciate your thoughts and comments on this 1.15 issue, it's going to be a tougher decision than the initial treatment. Glad to be here and thanks for "listening"!
Cheers, Doug
