Well our first big night went well. Dr. Vogelzang arrived a bit late but was a real trooper. Just making a few notes though on my first conducted webinar:
1. I need a wireless remote mic with a mixer. This will help when questions are being asked from the audience. I tried to repeat questions but the problem with acouple was simply that the questions were off topic or they were too long winded. I can moderate that but a wireless mic would help greatly.
2. Acoustics in the room prevented me from opening the audio. But again I can fix this. One problem I had was that on Macbook did the presenting and the webinar and I was restricted from connecting it because the speaker output jack was different from the video center. Again with my mixing board I can fix this stuff.
3. Being the UsTOO chapter leader also requires me to do chapter business ahead of the presentation. Future presentations should start 15 minutes after the normal chapter start time of 7:00pm.
4. I almost forgot to start the recording part. I started it right after the slide that listed the physicians. Silly me. Too much multitasking will do that.
Thank you to all who helped with this from a support standpoint. Your input will make for better webinars.
Nick says he is good to do as many as he can. I will rack him up again in December or January for a summary of the state of oncology for 2014.

Tony,
I felt that last night's webinar went extremely well for your first time. You are already planning to address my one issue, that of not being able to hear the audience's questions/comments. Thanks so much for presenting this material. It helped clarify what I need to ask my husband's medonc and where I need to do further reading. Unfortunately, my husband falls within the high-volume disease criteria so this protocol could benefit him greatly. Again, thanks for all your hard work. Lisa

Great job, Tony!
First of all, I was fascinated by Dr V's opening story about 1966 Nobel Prize winner Dr Charles Huggins and the stray dogs...I am always intrigued by the historical perspectives on why things today are the way they are...! Great anecdote!
I agree with Lisa and the "lessons learned" which you have already noted.
Here's a suggestion for next time. In order to conduct your 15 minutes of UsToo meeting "business," simply put up a slide on the webinar which says something like: "The webinar on [topic] will begin at approximately 15 minutes after the hour. The local UsToo chapter support meeting will be taking place during the first 15 minutes of the hour, which is not intended to be part of the webcast. Please stand by." This step anticipates the possible confusion a web participant may encounter if they join early and proactively presents a response/solution.
Great job taking questions from both the live audience and the chat box online. BTW, was the chat box visible on the display in the live room? Some of were having a little fun fulfilling the role of the peanut gallery...
Overall, excellent. Looking forward to the next one.

Just signed up with PCAF Tony - what a great job for your first effort on Wednesday. The session was truly informative, and Dr. V was a gem both with his presentation and answering questions! Thanks so much.
Just one technical issue - on my screen, I never saw the Morris slides as I mentioned to you offline. Wondering if others did ...... Lisa??
Peanut Gallery ;-)
