Our board member, Dr. Lawenda, introduced me to a physician at the Cleveland Clinic in Las Vegas and we have agreed to start a new support group in Las Vegas. I have been invited to lead the group which will be held here: Lou Ruvo Center for Brain HealthCleveland Clinic came to Las Vegas a couple years ago with an amazing facility. We will normally use a room that houses about 70. But an occasional event will use the most unusual auditorium in the state of Nevada. While the name implies "brain health" this facility also provides mrMRI for prostate cancer patients and has CC physicians for urology tied to it. Thank you to Dr. Jayram Krishnan for the invite. I look forward to working with you.

Prostate Cancer. I run 10 meetings a year for the last 5 years. At this facility: St. Rose Dominican San Martin CampusWhen Cleveland Clinic approaches my for this new group they actually wanted me to move the group from St. Rose. I countered with 5 meetings a year at their facility plus one major event. The facility is located in the central part of Las Vegas right across from City Hall and the Clark County offices. It will work well because it's hard for intercity folks to make it to the St. Rose facility. I have to ask the group if they want to move but most don't like change. So it is that I offered to do both. Another advantage of the Cleveland Clinic location is that these will be 6 meetings during the day on Saturday. Many folks at the age of prostate cancer dx also do not drive at night. This just makes sense. The meetings at St. Rose are midweek start at 7:00pm. I really wasn't sure I wanted to take on more but when Cleveland Clinic approached me I really liked the idea. Having their support is paramount to a successful program.

Let me know when the next one will be at the Cleveland Clinic. I am going to try to make it to one. It would be closer to me than the other one.

Tony - is there a January Vegas meeting? I have not yet finalized my plans to drive back from San Jose California to Florida and may be able to parlay that with your meeting or at least a stop by to see you.
Before then I hope to make a one hour drive to see our mutual friend Rick Davis. My spouse Karen and I enjoyed our meeting with him and his buddy Jerry last summer.
About the only plus of this dreadful disease is meeting all the great crew on the ship no one wants to board. Have met my mentor Allen in person several times while I was in LA for SBRT and Provenge. Still doing great but both treatments only ended a couple months ago.

Jim, Our meetings are every third Wednesday of the month with exception to July and December. So ten meetings a year. Our January meeting is January 21.
The schedule at the Cleveland Clinic is still being hammered out. Our first meeting looks like February 21. I am working with the county commissioners on sponsorship. It's a work in progress.

Thanks Tony.
Our son and daughter in law would disown us if we did nto head back to Florida by way of STL to visit my sister and Karen's mom and brother before January 21, 2015.
We may be able to stop by Vegas on Wed. January 7, 2015 if you and your spouse are available. Karen and I each enjoyed vsiting with you at Sonny's last April. We found a dog friendly hotel in Vegas area for our Maltese and Shih-Tzu (and us) at a resort located at 2 Kyle Canyon Rd, Mt Charleston, NV 89124-9283
Looking forward to visiting with you soon either at the resort or at your place.
Good luck on the logistics of organizing your new site for Vegas support group meetings
